Fazle Elahi Akbar is a former major general of the Bangladesh Army who served as military adviser to the UN Advance Mission in Sudan (UNAMIS). He served as the Force Commander in UNMIS from 2004 to 2006.
General Akbar served as security adviser to late Begum Khaleda Zia, former three-term prime minister of Bangladesh, from 21 October 2008 until the day she passed away on 30 December 2025.
He is the chairman of "Foundation for Strategic and Development Studies", or FSDS, a think tank that carries out research on the state's policy making challenges, priorities, capacity development and system enhamcement for good governance, homeland defence, national resilience and sustainable development.
